Nepal Claim Consolation Win in Final Match as Bangladesh Seal Series 3-2

Having already secured the series 3-1 by winning the fourth match, the fifth and final match at the capital's National Kabaddi Stadium was merely a formality for hosts Bangladesh. However, visiting Nepal salvaged a consolation victory in this closely contested encounter, defeating Bangladesh 25-21 points to narrow the series margin. Despite the loss, the Red and Green representatives claimed the series 3-2.

From the onset, a fierce battle unfolded between the two teams. At the end of the first half, Bangladesh held a narrow 12-11 point lead. The intensity persisted in the second half, with both sides locking at 17-17 points at one stage. Just as the match hung in the balance, Bangladesh’s Mebi Chakma executed a brilliant super raid to earn 3 points. Subsequently, Nepal mounted a formidable defense, all-out Bangladesh, and seized a 5-point lead to take control. Bangladesh failed to mount a comeback within regulation time, allowing the Nepali women to leave the court with a 25-21 point victory.

Despite the defeat, Bangladesh ended the day smiling with the championship trophy in hand. Nepal captain Menuka Kumari Rajbanshi was named Player of the Match, while Bangladesh's Brishti Biswas received the Player of the Tournament award for her outstanding performance throughout the series.
